On April 1, 1989, a French wine magazine published an “April Fool’s” article claiming that researchers had discovered a scientific way to turn water into wine. The article detailed fake formulas and even quoted “experts.” Some readers called in, asking how they could invest in the process. A week later, the magazine confessed it was all a joke, but only after it became the most widely shared article it had ever run.
Moral of the story? In wine, as in life, some things are too good (and too fermented) to be true!!!
